May, is that you?

Is it just me or are months really flying by fast? Do you still have that list of new year’s resolutions? How many have you ticked off so far as we head into another one? Well as for me, I can explain (winks).

My past few days have been better than the ones before. We thank God. As usual, I've had my encounters, directly and indirectly. These experiences linger in my mind until I find a lesson out of it.

Well, I have a list of things I've come to terms with and I thought I'd share. Some of these, you might disagree and that is okay.

Some of these you might have read somewhere but most life lessons don’t hit home until you're really experiencing it, exercise it and then it sinks in.

  • Make money then have children, take care of them with everything they need so that they don't mistake a man taking care of their needs as “The one”. Men that have money are resourceful, and yes they make life easier. What may seem like a big bill for you at that time, is merely pocket change to them. Encourage them to work for the things they want in life.

  • Heal, work on your mental and emotional traumas, so that someone else doesn't notice how damaged you are and then use it against you.

  • How someone treats you, especially those that treat you in a bad way, is a reflection of themselves not you. Don't let anyone's attitude towards you make you think you might have a problem.

  • Social media. Social media is powerful. Its influence nurtures our thoughts, our actions and habits. At one moment in time it made me believe that there is a “perfect man.” (Whatever a perfect man may mean to you). He doesn't exist.

  • Take people for what they show you, not what you assume of them or would like to believe of them. How they treat you is exactly how they feel about you. Pay attention.

  • Trust your Intuition. I'm one of those people that always had a huge bias against the statement, “trust your gut”. I believed that one’s intuition communicated its feelings based on the only knowledge one has about something. Well, I was wrong and if you're one of those rebellious people, this is your sign.

  • You'll be glad you had a broken family, an alcoholic father, had no electricity or TV in your house while you grew up. It's the only reason you chose to be a fighter and make it though. Most of those that had zero inspiration with everything served on a silver plate are living the most regrettable lives today. Embrace your past.

  • The older you get, the harder it gets to make genuine friendships with people. Dont over think most connections, workmates, or neigbors. Most of them are meant to just be acquaintances.

  • People are different, raised by different men and women and that has so much to do with their character. It will save you so much anger and arguments.

A toast to a new month to help us reminisce and look forward to the new month. To use our experiences as lessons to make better decisions in the future. Have a great one!
